Too Faced: Grande Hotel Café

Too Faced has put out some beautiful limited edition Christmas sets and they’re just so hard to resist.  They make great gifts for make-up lovers, and the Grande Hotel Café has made a perfect edition to my holiday make-up rotation.

The Grade Hotel Café opens to reveal three lightly scented palettes: Gingerbread Cookie, Peppermint Mocha, and Eggnog Latte.  Seeing these individually, I could never have decided between them, but you get all three for $49– they even throw in a mini Better Than Sex Mascara!

I’ve had so much fun creating subtle eyeshadow looks for the season, and I can’t wait to amp it up for holiday parties.

Each palette includes 6 eyeshadows and one cheek color, which I’ve loved being able to reach for as a finishing touch!

These limited edition holiday sets definitely tug at me when I see them in stores, but I’m so pleased with this purchase!  Which holiday sets have made it to your wish list?

Jack-o-Lanterns

We saw a lot of Jack-o-Lanterns last weekend!  But also, I had a Saturday of shopping at my favorite stores– Barnes & Noble, Alex & Ani, and Sephora!  Find out what I got by watching the vlog…

Current Everyday Make-Up

IMG_2149.JPG

The alarm goes off.  I do nothing.  The second alarm goes off.  I struggle out of bed, and go about getting ready for my day.  Somehow I always feel like more of a human once my make-up is done.  For work especially, I wear an everyday look again and again– something basic and professional.  I thought today I’d share with you what my everyday go-to products are!

Foundation: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water

I’ve really not been into foundation lately.  It’s hot!  This light formulation lets my skin breathe and still has enough coverage to handle days when my skin isn’t looking its best!

Concealer: NARS radiant creamy concealer & Benefit Boi-oing

Nothing brightens my under-eye area like NARS concealer in shade vanilla– it’s just the perfect color for me.  For the cysts that have been popping up on my chin or the odd zit here & there, Boi-oing is high enough coverage to make them disappear.

Powder: Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder

I bought this completely randomly, but I ended up loving it for a finishing powder.  It’s colorless and locks my foundation & concealer down for hot days.

Bronzer: Benefit Hoola

Now that I have a bit of a tan, Benefit’s Hoola is perfect for a little bit of contour and a little bit of warmth.  The accompanying brush is nice for contour, but I like to use a larger brush for bronzing.

Eye Primer: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

This is my go-to eye shadow primer.  I wear the original formula– it’s light, colorless, and keeps my winged eyeliner in place.

Eyeliner: Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner

I’ve discovered a new favorite.  Tarte’s liquid eyeliner is my new go-to for my daily wings that, at this point, are just part of my face.  It is waterproof, but I find removal a lot easier than my previous favorite.  I love the pencil side too– it glides on easily and lasts longer than any pencil that has graced my waterline.

Mascara: Benefit They’re Real! Tinted Lash Primer & Benefit Roller Lash

My lashes are so sad, I can’t go anywhere without mascara.  Benefit’s primer has been a god-send.  It’s brown, so it darkens my light lashes while lengthening and separating.  Paired with Roller Lash, I got the curl and length I need to make it look like I have lashes!

What are your go-to everyday products?

Banana Bread + Sweet Peach Palette

Mostly I did two things last weekend– made Smitten Kitchen’s double chocolate banana bread recipe & purchased/tried out Too Faced’s limited edition Sweet Peach Palette.  I was super happy with both.  There was also running shoe-buying and Pokémon shirt-wearing.  Check it out!

Post-Christmas Sephora Trip

Hello, hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas or whatever holiday you spent for the winter season.  Since I was such a good girl this year, Santa brought me some cold, hard cash.  I promptly took to Sephora to spend some of it.  Here’s what I got:

IMG_0685

We’re going clockwise from the 12-spot, which is actually the order I picked these things up!

[1] Tartelette In Bloom | I’ve been searching Sephora for the palette for weeks!  Turns out, all I needed to do was ask.  I never did pick up the original Tartelette palette, though the thought had crossed my mind.  When I saw this baby, however, I knew I needed it.  Tartelette offers all matte shades and this one has a nicer mix– even I need a little shimmer to complete my shadow.  I love the range of colors here and they’re all extremely wearable!

[2] Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita 2 | I’ve been eyeing this formulation for a long, long time.  I’ve had Vampira in my hand before, but never quite made it to checkout.  I covet Lolita, the most popular shade that is always, always sold out in stores.  Lolita 2 is a beautiful shade– a slightly spicy, rusty pink that I think is exactly what suits me.  There are a bunch of other shades I’m interested in, but it all starts here with Lolita 2!  If I find its predecessor, I’ll pick that up too.

[3] BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone | I’ve always thought that my damaged skin can’t handle a lot of highlight, but hey, the flaws are there and people are going to see them.  I’m embracing the world of highlight and contour and treating myself to this little compact of stardust.  After looking at it many times in stores, I knew I would eventually.  I went for the poured instead of the pressed and thought the Moonstone shade was my best match.

[4] Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Milk Chocolate | I figured if I’m getting a gorgeous new highlight, I needed a new bronzer to go with it.  I’ve had my eyes on Milk Chocolate for a while, delighted that there’s not a hint of glitter to be found.  Matte bronzer is my best friend!  I was tempted to go with the Chocolate, but I’m a pale, pale girl in the winter, so I’m sticking to the Milk Chocolate until I get some actual sun.

So now that I’ve shared my post-Christmas Sephora haul, tell me: what did you get for Christmas?!

Marching On…

Happy April!  It’s got to be spring now, right?  There will be no April Fool-ing you here today– just an insta-recap of the month we just left!

March started out slow for my instagram game, but before the mont was over, I had so many awesome shots to chose from!  I’m sharing 9, as usual, that signify some of the cool stuff I did last month.

IMG_7239

[1] March started with the oddest flower delivery of all time– this arrangement was sent to me by UPS as an apology for a customer service faux pas! [2] I enjoyed a couple of restaurant week dinners.  Here’s my delicious dessert from dinner at Tapeo with Celina and Elissa. [3] I have been mildly obsessed with the tiramisu latte at Starbucks.  [4] I shopped a lot!  I wasn’t in the mood to buy clothes in the cold weather, but I did pick up some pretty make-up items [5] I played a lot of Nintendo 3DS!  This should come as a surprise to no one.  I’ve been trading pokémon with my friend, Tim, which has made the experience so much better. [6] I won an instagram contest with this picture from a barre class at Simply Barre in Southie, hosted by Elissa! [7] I battled more cold weather.  Boston will just not let up! [8] My new Hunter boots arrived!  There is a whole saga behind this, but the short version is: my beloved Hunters bit the dust after the worst winter ever.  Customer service did me a little bit of a solid and helped me get a new pair to love! [9] I took some selfies.  Again, this should come as a surprise to no one.

Wish List: More Make Up

It’s that time of year again!  My bonus is in the bank.  Unfortunately, it’s taxed to death (Yeah, yeah, Nicole– go throw some tea in the harbor) and I’m trying to save money this year, so I really shouldn’t be thinking of ways to spend it.  But I am.

If you couldn’t tell, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with make up and beauty products lately, so that’s what my wish list is all about this year!

Too Faced Soul Mates Blushing Bronzer [$34.00]

Blusher & bronzer are very much absent from my every day make up routine.  I like the idea of adding them in together, so as not to overwhelm my face.  What I love about this Too Faced compact is the names of the shades– Rose & Rachel and Carrie & Big.  Spoiler alert: If you follow me on instagram, you’ll know I’ve actually already picked this one up in Carrie & Big.  Though I prefer the other shade’s name, this one is much more suited for my coloring.  Check it out here!

Sleek Contour Kit [$9.99]

You can’t even call this item a splurge!  I’m not adept at contouring, but after a lot of research on products, this is the one I really want to try out.  The problem?  It’s not available in stores!  I just need to push myself to go ahead and order this one… which frightens me a bit since I haven’t seen the shades.  I’m thinking light is a pretty good bet for me.  Does anyone have this?  Advise!

Real Techniques Bold Metals

Weirdly, this is the most expensive line item on my list… but that’s because it’s 7 different brushes!  I don’t really have nice make up brushes.  I have some terrible Sephora ones that I never use, and a few select Bare Minerals ones that I abuse.  I’ve wanted to snag some Real Techniques brushes for a while now and the new bold metals collection is just so pretty!  I may have to do some picking and choosing out of these.

  • Arched Powder $25.99
  • Triangle Foundation $23.99
  • Oval Shadow $15.99
  • Pointed Crease $15.99
  • Angled Liner $15.99
  • Tapered Blush $23.99
  • Flat Concealer $25.99

Naked2 Basics [$29.00]

Again, if you follow me on instagram, (if you don’t, hurry up and do so!) you’ll know my Naked palette collection is almost complete save for this baby.  While I absolutely love the full-size palettes, the portability on these little basics sets can’t be beat.  Last time I stopped by Sephora, Naked2 Basics was out of stock, so it’s still on my list.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb [1 oz. $80.00]

The first time I ever caught the scent of this eau de parfum was in the pages of French Vogue on my first trip to Paris.  I feel in love with the ad and with the delicious floral scent.  I haven’t bought perfume for myself maybe ever… I have a couple sprays that I use regularly and all of my perfumes were gifts in my high school days.  I deserve a nice one!  This scent always makes me think of Paris.  I need that in my life.

Do you have any of the products on this list?  Tell me: which ones do I absolutely need?!
