The Legend of Zelda

Japan Haul!

I couldn’t wait another minute to share this video because it’s so late exciting!

I think you all can probably tell that life has gotten pretty busy lately, but I’m so happy that I’ve finally gotten around to editing my massive Japan haul.  I hope you enjoy!

Uniqlo x Nintendo

I’m having trouble finding the words for how perfect these Nintendo tees for Uniqlo are.  I mean, one of my favorite stores plus my absolute favorite game company… could anything be more made for me?

I have to give the credit to my fiancé for alerting me to this one.  Between the two of us, we could’ve easily bought this whole collection.  Here are my favorites!

Top Row: Pikachu Print (women); Boo print (women); Donkey Kong print (men), Animal Crossing print (kids)

Middle Row: Pikachu (men), Kirby (kids), Donkey Kong (men), Mario & Luigi pipe pocket (men)

Bottom Row: Super Mario Star (men), Pokéballs (kids), Legend of Zelda (men & women), There’s One Left Pikachu (men)

All the best tees are really the kids one, but I can try my luck at fitting in men, women, and kids!  To see them all, check out the Uniqlo site.  To see what we picked out, check out the vlog coming up tomorrow!

Which are your favorites?!

Halloweekend Vlog

Guys, since I’m still pretending my gym relationship is going well, I at least wanted to tell you that I took a new class last week!  It’s Body Flow, which is a yoga/pilates/tai chi kind of deal.  My core finally got some attention, and I will definitely be returning.

How was everyone’s Halloweekend?!

Links For A New World [08]

snow and shells

Well, it’s been a solid 2 months since I’ve gathered links for you.  February and March were tough here in Boston, alright?

But anyway, links!

  • Majora’s Mask | This is my favorite Legend of Zelda game and one of my favorite games ever.  I didn’t put up enough fanfare about the 3DS release on this blog and I’ve literally been saving this fantastic article since it came out.  Play this game, you guys.  Especially since you’ll be waiting a while for a new one…
  • The Office | It’s been 10 years since the American version of The Office premiered.  Angela Kinsey did an awesome instagram takeover in celebration and I had so many emotions.  I love this show and this history of the Diversity Day episode really highlights what made it special.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer | You must know by now that BtVS is my number one.  My cousin Nick sent me this article entitled Every Argument about Buffy on the Internet from 1998 until Now and I just loved it.  Had to share!
  • Narragansett | I have a lot to say about Rhode Island neighbor of mine– mostly, that I miss it horribly through all this Boston snow!  I voted for Narragansett in Coastal Living’s Happiest Seaside Town contest and you can too!
  • ‘Gansett | Narragansett beer is also on my mind lately.  Summer brews and the delicious Del’s Lemonade Shandy are hitting shelves soon to help us remember that spring is here and summer is around the corner!
  • Game of Thrones | I’m getting so pumped for April TV.  We’ve waited so long for Mad Men, Orphan Black, and Game of Thrones!  Watch the lovely Maisie Williams talk about watching the show with her family and Arya’s sword skills.
  • Grace Helbig | Ah, my spirit animal!  She’ll always be dailygrace to me, but as of next Friday night she’s on all of your TV screens on E!  Here’s Grace on Fallon being perfect.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Watercolor Pokémon & Zelda

I promised another featured art Friday Favorite, and surprise! it’s Pokémon-related.  Actually, it’s even better because it’s Pokémon meets The Legend of Zelda– my two favorite video game franchises!

Check out David Pilatowsky’s beautiful watercolor crossover artwork!

I happen to think Charmander and Squirtle make the most adorable Links, and love Horsea as Ruto!  My favorite, though, has got to be Celebi as Midna– perfection!

Which do you like best?

Sorry for the lazy Friday post, but next week will bring more things with more writing attached to them.  (This stream of consciousness sentence is how my brain works.)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Farewell February

I’m not going to lie, I’m super happy this month is over.  February was a lot of indoor living, slush and sadness.

This month has buried Boston in snow and everyone’s seasonal depression has gotten worse. I feel like I’ve been super productive lately, but all of my progress is overshadowed by the little annoyances that have crept in… I’m ready for some changes, and a new month sounds like a good way to start!

(1) Cheering the Patriots to victory in the suburbs with a blanket of snow already on the ground. (2) And then the storms came. Here’s Juno! (3) Cupcakes + coffee, super healthy breakfast on a snow day. (4) …Did I mention we got a lot of snow in Boston? (5) Got my hair done and vowed to be blonde forever. (6) I spent Valentine’s Day watching the Pokémon VCG regionals in St. Louis! (7) Majora’s Mask 3D came out!  This is one of my favorite games ever, so it’s great to have it portable. (8) I ate all of these macarons in one day, oops!  I’d love to try to bake some soon. (9) After 5 PM and it’s still almost light?  This is progress.

Are you looking forward to March as much as I am?

Tell me something good that you just can’t wait for!

Friday Favorites: Best Link Ever

With Hyrule Warriors on the brain this week, I’ve been super into The Legend of Zelda as a whole.  I know, I know, how is that different from any other day?  A new piece of the fandom always reignites my fervor.  I couldn’t constantly be playing Hyrule Warriors, so I went searching for reviews, videos, and all Zelda-related info.  My favorite find of the week is this YouTube video from The Game Theorists.

The premise is to determine which of the 11-ish Links is the strongest Link.  It’s a fun walk through all the Zelda games we know and love.  My favorite detail of this video is that it’s full of Doctor Who references as well– from a Tardis to symbolize time travel, to Matt Smith to symbolize 11-ish.  Perfect.  There’s some other fun references, like Lord of the Rings as well.

I’ll definitely be checking out more of The Game Theorists’ Youtube videos, and of course, playing more Hyrule Warriors.  How’s your game coming along?

Hope you all have a phenomenal weekend!

Wii U Wednesday: Games!

When I brought my Wii U home, I brought 5 games along with it.  These games are: New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

Because life gets busy, I’ve only played 3 of these games so far.  I wanted to leave a little fun for later, anyway!

The first game I tried out was New Super Mario Bros. U.  If you’ve read my other Wii U posts, you may have noticed I’ve been leaving off the “New” part of the title, perhaps out of stubborn refuses to recognize this as part of the title.  Since this was the first game I ever played for Wii U, I was expecting obstacles with the new gamepad.  It was, however, surprisingly comfortable to use and easy to master.  The thing that was difficult for me was that what shows on your TV screen also shows on your gamepad.  With my bad eyesight, I tended to keep my eyes on the gamepad instead of the screen farther away from me.  I can see how this would be a perk, because you can literally walk around and keep playing this!  I did think that it was an underutilization of the gamepad though.  You literally don’t need both screens.  Gameplay itself gives you a heavy dose of nostalgia.  There are some fun new features like the acorn power-up that gives you the ability to fly– not like Superman, but like Knuckles Sega’s in Sonic & Knuckles.

I also mentioned before that I was feeling a little ripped off by the fact that the two games that came with my deluxe set seemed like one game.  New Super Luigi U came on the same disc as New Super Mario Bros. U.  Admittedly, it took me a while to find how to access this other game.  When I did, I was again slightly disappointed that the intro was exactly the same.  It’s basically the same game minus Mario.  As promised, all the levels are different.  However, they’re kind of half levels?  Each time you start one, you get that hurry up! music indicating you have 100 seconds left.  This kind of made the levels easier to beat once you got used to it.  This music actually gives me anxiety so that was a bit obstacle to overcome.

The game I’ve played most, and obsessively at first, has been Pikmin 3.  I’ve never played either of the first two Pikmin, but I just knew this game was for me… and was I ever right!  I’m in love with the adorable little Pikmin army you command, but feel March of the Penguins sad when a couple guys get left behind or eaten in battle.  It’s so hard to watch those little guys get hurt!  All and all, I find the puzzle-solving quests for fruit super fun, and best of all, the game is on the TV screen while your gamepad becomes a map you must use to get around.  This is the first time I’ve had to use both, and it took a little practice to sync my eyes and hands up.  Once you’ve mastered it, the gamepad’s screen serves a real, important purpose and feels necessary, finally.  I’m super into Pikmin now, and would love to get my hands on the previous two GameCube incarnations!

So, based on my love of Pikmin, any recommendations for me?  It doesn’t have to be Wii U– I’ve still got Wind Waker HD and DK Country Tropical Freeze to test out!

Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition

Happy February, guys!

Now, I have something very important to tell you– The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition is available for FREE download in the e-shop of your Nintendo 3DS!  (This also applies to 2DS, if anyone happens to have one…)

about to download my copy!

about to download my copy!

“4 Days, 4 Free, 4 Swords” started on Thursday, January 30th.  I downloaded my copy last night and it only took a second!  Snag this game for free before your chance disappears.  The free download is available until Sunday, February 2nd at 11:59 PM.

Simply select the e-shop from the home screen of your 3DS.  Four Swords was actually just on the screen for me as soon as I did, presumably because the last thing I got from the e-shop was Oracle of Seasons, a free download that came with the pre-order of Link Between Worlds.  If you’re not a Zelda-maniac like this girl, I’m sure you could just search for it.

Take advantage of this wonderful game being free while you can!

And if you want to play multiplayer with me, absolutely let me know!
