Hey guys! While you’re reading this, I’ve started my Fourth of July vacation in the ocean state! Follow me along on instagram to see what I’m up to!
In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of my lost snaps from June.
The top photo was taken in Watch Hill, Rhode Island on my way to Taylor Swift’s house… she’s on tour, though, and sadly wasn’t home to greet me. In all seriousness, I’ve loved this coastal village forever. It’s one of many destinations on my summer checklist every summer.
The bottom photo is an outfit of the day taken on the last day of June. I bought this cute little H&M dress last weekend. What’s better than easy, breezy dresses for the office that you can dress up or down? I’m looking forward to adding black tights and making this piece work for all seasons! I’ll be sharing a couple other H&M purchases on the blog soon.
At this point, my birthday was over a week ago… 10 days to be exact! On the day itself, I celebrated by going to dinner with my family. This weekend, my friend’s threw me a little birthday brunch to ring in my next year. It snowed heavily in Boston on Saturday morning, and by the time we left the streets were slick with slush. Still, I shuffled through Beacon Hill with a belly full of brunch, bag full of gifts, and heart full of thanks. Here’s my belated birthday recap! My brother got me a record player for my birthday! He got my Taylor Swift’s 1989 as my first record. This is also the year I was born! My friend Julia got me this adorable iphone case featuring a dachshund drinking Starbucks and a nautical monogram wine tumbler! My dear friend Stacie sent me these adorable dachshund magnets! Are you sensing a theme? My first selfie of age 26. Eep. Beacon Hill Bistro where I dined with my sweet friends Carissa, Kelsey, Chelsea, Sarah, and Elaina. Poached eggs with hollandaise is my absolute favorite! Carissa made me a cross-stitch Piplup! Kelsey bought me these awesome Edward Gorey Tarot cards while we browsed the paper shops on Charles St. My friends just get me. A sincere thank you to everyone who made me feel so special as I entered the latter half of my twenties. It was a wonderful birthday and I sure hope that sets the precedent for the year! And happy birthday to my fellow Capricorns!
Blank Space – You all obviously know from yesterday’s post that I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift’s newest music video. If for some reason you haven’t seen this masterpiece, watch it immediately.
Font for Dyslexics – Dyslexie is a typeface that makes things easier to read for people with Dyslexia. I think this is phenomenal; anything that gets more people reading is so important.
Queen Bey – Beyoncé was a category on Jeopardy this week, and I’m proud to say that I could answer this whole column. You try! How’d you do?
Mindy & Stephen – I love when people I like like each other. Stephen Colbert introduced Mindy Kaling at Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year this past week, and I love that too.
Justine & Aisha – I repeat, I love when people I like like each other! iJustine posted a WCW a day early this week and posted a picture of her with Aisha Tyler. I love these two woman and freaking love seeing them together.
Go Find Yourself – Since most of my content for today’s LFANW comes from Twitter, why not continue that trend? Go ahead and check out #GG2D and/or Lisa Edelstein’s retweets of fans like myself showing support for the upcoming Bravo series “Girlfriends Guide to Divorce.”
Jessica Lange on Elsa – My obsession with Jessica Lange is unwavering. E Online interviewed the American Horror Story star on her character, Elsa Mars. I’m still hoping and praying that this is not her last season on AHS, because GOD she is perfection.
I’ve never seen a more perfect music video than Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” She so perfectly embodies sexy and crazy in this video, playing both beautiful and comical. I’m so obsessed with it, that I screencapped like, the whole thing. It was so tough to narrow it down, but here are my top ten, in no particular order!
my bedroom totally looks like this too. ponies & all.
when Taylor beckons, I come.
my absolute favorite outfit of the video.
she’s literally perfect.
and gives zero fucks.
literally my favorite cap I took.
STOP. also, jewelry!
so cute/so crazy
Literally, I’m obsessed with this music video. I could probably talk about what she’s wearing in it for the rest of my life. Which is your favorite look?
Links for a New World is a feature in which I share a bunch of links to things around the web that are relevant to my interests. It’s your weekend reading list! The name comes from a musical… for no particular reason.
My pumpkin friend from last weekend’s adventure! Stay tuned for this post next week.
Who Said it: Chandler or Xander? – This Buzzfeed quiz is surprisingly difficult! I don’t think there are two shows I’ve seen more times than Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Friends, and yet, I only got 11/15 of these correct on my first try. How did you do?
The Carleton – I actually saw this clip on the news at work and nearly lost it. I don’t watch Dancing with the Stars, but I do love The Fresh Prince of Bel Air! I watched this whole dance and literally screeched when Alfonso busted out that move.
Banjo-Kazooie: Everything and the Kitchen Sink! – Grant Kirkhope made the excellent music for some of my favorite Nintendo 64 games including Goldeneye, Donkey Kong 64, and Banjo-Kazooie! Here, he’s offering every song from the latter two basically for free. You can name your price, download, and enjoy!
Daily Dachshund – We will likely not get away with any lists of links that do not include something dachshund-related. My friend Julia sent me this link and I nearly lost it. This pup knows how to relax!
8-Bit Cinema’s Frozen – This is the first 8 Bit Cinema video I’ve seen, but I absolutely love the idea and will definitely be watching more. Basically, this is what Frozen would look like if it were an old school video game. The best part for me is the remixed music that pulls at the strings of my nostalgia!
Taylor Swift’s “Riptide” cover – Oh, T Swift, I can’t help but love you! This cover of Vance Joy’s Riptide for BBC Radio 1 near brings tears to my eyes. I would love to hear Taylor sing in the genre more often.
And finally, pumpkin! – Halloween is nearing, and if I had any outdoor space, I’d have a pumpkin bigger than that little baby in the bowl pictured. If you want to be super creative when carving a big, orange, jack-o-lantern, try one of these pokémon silhouette patterns! Seriously, someone try one. I want to see!
I picked up Essie’s Bikini So Teeny as a break-time pick me up one day during work. After wearing it a couple times, I found that it kept reminding me of something… my absolute favorite flower, hydrangeas!
I paired this cornflower blue color with an old favorite for the accent nail, Essie’s Play Date, a fun, bright purple! This truly made the manicure all about hydrangeas. This manicure Monday, I’m showing my hydrangea inspired nails along with the most beautiful hydrangeas I’ve seen! I found these beautiful flowers in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. I made a trip there last weekend as well with some friends. We stopped by Taylor Swift’s house while we were there…
How cute is this, though?
We got a real kick out of this sign! The guard was super nice and let us come up and snap some photos of it, and chatted with us about TSwift and (at my friend Chelsea’s request,) her cat!
Hope you all had lovely weekends!
What do you think of this hydrangea-inspired color scheme?
