I couldn’t be more excited to get out of February and launch into March!  I’ve got a biiiig trip coming up and I’ve been counting down the days!  Let’s revisit some of the great things that happened in February, though.

[1] a trip to the MFA!  [2] lots of amazing books [3] a trip to Philadelphia and an indulgence in Federal Donuts [4] Valentine’s day gifts from my love [5] trying out Pokeworks [6] the sun’s setting later, making for beautiful walks home [7] green tea ice cream [8] testing out Burberry’s Liquid Lip Velvet [9] amazing spring weather!

What were your favorite February moments?

Julep Maven June | The Deep End

Hello June bugs! This month’s Julep Maven box is undoubtedly the best one I’ve ever gotten. I’ve got to be a year into my subscription at this point and I may be more in love than ever.

I did another unboxing for you! Opening it up is fun because I never remember what I’ve gotten, and sometimes– like this time– I get surprises!

Now that I’ve had the products for a bit I was able to test and fall in love! Here are some more details for you:

  • Manda (Boho Glam) – sky blue with gold shimmer. This color reminds me of a mermaid! It’s got a brilliant but subtle shimmer.
  • Lillian (It Girl) – alabaster pink crème. This very light pink is so up my ally right now since I’m so interested in near-white shades!
  • Marcy (Bombshell) – prosecco silk (semi-matte opalescent). This gorgeous matte sparkle champagne is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. The finish is unique, but undeniably lovely. All I can say is look for this in my next favorites post!

Gel Eye Glider eyeliner

These come in tons of shades but I picked Smoky Taupe Shimmer and Olive! They go on very smooth and wear well. I’m super happy with the colors I picked and would consider adding more of these to my collection!

Feels Like Velvet eyeshadow duo in Moonlight & Starlight

I did pick this duo for the name, but it also has the most beautiful and most versatile colors. Moonlight is a matte lilac grey and starlight is a white sand shimmer. These are very nice in texture, as the name would imply!

Long Weekend Eyeshadow Palette

An impulse purchase and a fabulous deal, this gorgeous palette holds 11 neutral shades with fun, summer names: Bask, Brunch, Catnap, Friday, Getaway, Bonfire, Lowtide, Monday, Saturday, Sunset, and Sunday. The packaging had me with strokes of watercolor blue, pink, and yellow. This is a nice substitute for an Urban Decay Naked Palette if you can get it discounted like a Maven!

So that’s the scoop! And yes I’m obsessed with all of it. Click here for a free month of Julep – trust me, it’s worth it!

Marching On…

Happy April!  It’s got to be spring now, right?  There will be no April Fool-ing you here today– just an insta-recap of the month we just left!

March started out slow for my instagram game, but before the mont was over, I had so many awesome shots to chose from!  I’m sharing 9, as usual, that signify some of the cool stuff I did last month.

[1] March started with the oddest flower delivery of all time– this arrangement was sent to me by UPS as an apology for a customer service faux pas! [2] I enjoyed a couple of restaurant week dinners.  Here’s my delicious dessert from dinner at Tapeo with Celina and Elissa. [3] I have been mildly obsessed with the tiramisu latte at Starbucks.  [4] I shopped a lot!  I wasn’t in the mood to buy clothes in the cold weather, but I did pick up some pretty make-up items [5] I played a lot of Nintendo 3DS!  This should come as a surprise to no one.  I’ve been trading pokémon with my friend, Tim, which has made the experience so much better. [6] I won an instagram contest with this picture from a barre class at Simply Barre in Southie, hosted by Elissa! [7] I battled more cold weather.  Boston will just not let up! [8] My new Hunter boots arrived!  There is a whole saga behind this, but the short version is: my beloved Hunters bit the dust after the worst winter ever.  Customer service did me a little bit of a solid and helped me get a new pair to love! [9] I took some selfies.  Again, this should come as a surprise to no one.

Photo Finish: Spring 2014

I must say, these last few months have been quite lovely!  You’ll notice my brother, Joey, plays a pivotal role in many of the above photo highlights, which is apt to happen as he’s one of my favorite humans. Since today marks the start of summer, I’m taking a moment now to recognize all the fun things spring brought to me.  Summer, keep the good times coming!

{1} my brother’s Christmas present, WWE Smackdown at TD Bank {2} sunny Mother’s Day in Boston Public Garden {3} dinner in the North End on my brother’s graduation weekend {4} with the Boston College graduate himself at Alumni Stadium! {5} with lifelong friend Stacie, the most beautiful bride, at her wedding reception at Stonehill College {6} Mario Kart 8 was released and I played for hours, unlocking all the characters that day! {7} in the Ocean State enjoying the most Rhode Island shandy where Narragansett beer meets Del’s lemonade {8} Rhode Island again for Father’s Day weekend, having firework fun with Amanda {9} day off Museum of Fine Arts trip

April Fools

April is off and running, and it seems like Boston is finally feeling a little bit of spring weather!  I, however, am feeling majorly under the weather.  The past week has been nonstop at work– in early every day, leaving late every evening, and no time for lunch at all.  It’s no wonder, then, that I got so, so sick.  After a doctor visit, I’m feeling a little reassured that I’ll be okay, but I’m still not 100%.  I have an inner ear thing going on that is seriously not pleasant, and it doesn’t go away quickly.  Apologies, all, for not being able to put as much time into the blog as I’d have liked!  I promise content will get back up to speed soon, but just a quick post for now… let’s talk about Google’s awesome April Fools prank!

If you didn’t notice, Google Maps placed hundreds of pokémon throughout the world and challenged users to catch ’em all with the [fake] promise of a job offer at Google with the title of Pokémon Master.  As a pokémon fan, I was pretty obsessed with this and loved the feeling that I was qualified to work for Google for a day.

Google offered a selection of 150 from all generations.  Some appeared more frequently than others.  I caught all 150 different pokémon, thus feeling qualified to be Google’s Pokémon Master.  My strategy was to input major cities and landmarks into maps, and with appropriate zoom, it seemed to pay off.  I really think they should have offered a print out of the business card when you accomplished this task!  There was, however, a 151st included– Mew.  From what I read, Mew travelled from location to location and this sucker alluded me.

completely wore my battery down catching 'em all!

completely wore my battery down catching ’em all!

What did you think of the selection?  Personally, I loved that they picked all evolutions of all starter pokémon, but felt the lack of legendaries.

How did you all do catching pokémon?

It’s Coming…

No, not winter.  That’s here in a big way thanks to this winter storm walloping the east coast right now.  According to Punxsutawney Phil (or whoever our clairvoyant groundhog is), we’re got six more weeks of this season, but I don’t care what any rodent says; I’m getting ready for spring!  The best news is that with spring comes new seasons of our favorite shows!  I’m definitely looking forward to a bunch of them.  Here’s my personal list:

Game of Thrones [season 4] – April 6

You’re already watching this, so I’m not going to bother telling you that you should be.  If you need to catch up, or if you’re the one of the 10 people who does not watch this show, get on that on HBO Go.

Mad Men [season 7] – April 13

I just got into this AMC show last year.  Set in the 1960’s advertising world, this show is delightfully devious, but still heart-warming with a cast of now iconic characters.  The final season is split in two, which I’m sure will drive me crazy, but I’m very much looking forward to it.  The first 5 seasons are available on Netflix.  Netflix is ruining my life by not having the sixth available, but it is out on DVD.

Orphan Black [season 2] – April 19

You might not be watching this Canadian sci-fi series, and I highly recommend you do!  I caught the first season of this series on demand (on my Comcast Xfinity app) after a friend recommended it to me.  I’ve been anxiously anticipating season 2 on BBC America after binging on this action-packed show.  This is my pick for most anticipated season premiere, so give season 1 a try!

Orange is the New Black [season 2] – Spring/no release date yet

I can’t believe we don’t have a release date yet for season 2 of our favorite Netflix binge!  If you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting for this since last summer when the first season premiered.  If for some reason you haven’t watched this Netflix original, I recommend you do.  The best thing about Netflix series is that all of the episodes are available at once: a binge-watcher’s dream!

I know it’s hard with all this snow, but keep warm and remember that spring is right around the corner!

What shows are you most looking forward to?
