MOH Diaries & #Pokemon20

This is my first official installment in my Maid of Honor Diaries series, since my cousin has officially asked me to be her MOH.   (She asked back when I was in Houston about a day after she got engaged, but I don’t blame her for being excited!)

This is my last official installment in my #Pokemon20 Mythical hunt.  I included getting Magearna in here too since the weekend vlog was so short!  We were busy seeing my cousin SLAY as Annie in Annie Jr.  I wish I had a clip of her singing, you guys!  The wouldn’t let us take photos or video… children’s theatre, man.

November’s End

November’s end is the ultimate I-can’t-believe-the-month-is-over.  Maybe you’re already embroiled in the holiday season and happy to see December, but December means the year is coming to a close.  November’s always been a favorite of mine, and I have a major reason to love this particular November…

[1] We went to a wedding in Tennessee in October, but I didn’t get my hands on these photos until this month. [2] Matt made these little pumpkin rolls twice.  I hope he realizes he’ll be making them a lot more. [3] I taught myself to weave!  It went okay.  Here’s the first thing I made. [4] Matt sent me these flowers on the day he proposed.  I had no idea they weren’t the end of it. [5] Yes, this is the reason I am sad to see this month go! [6] POKEMON SUN & MOON [7] Celebrating Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday [8] Driving up north and seeing the first signs of snow. [9] And the Christmas tree is up for our first Christmas together!

So, there’s lots of good stuff to come.  Are you looking forward to the holiday season?

Sun & Moon so far

A little over a week into Alola adventures, I’m ready to dish about generation 7!  I beat the main game the first weekend, completed the ultra beast missions the next day, and largely put the game down for the work week.  Last weekend, I completed the little Eeveelution quest, scooped up my Cosmog, and captured my second Tapu– just two to go!  I’m pretty much loving these game, though!

They did such a great job creating a cohesive, yet diverse region.  My favorite part of this game is when the captains & kahunas all dance together… y’all know what I’m talking about.  I also just love Z-powered Lillie.  Being able to add pokémon to your party instantly is a great feature– why did it take us so long to get this?  I love PokéPelago too, though I’ve not quite figured out that hot spring island yet.  Obviously, I’ve got a little work to do, but I thought it might be fun to try my tag again now!

Which Version: Moon right now, only have played Sun to get the other starters into my main game.

Played On: Hyrule Gold New 3DS!

Starter Pokémon: Poplio!

Favorite Town: Konikoni City and Malie City are my favorites!

Favorite Gym Leader: I’m going to go with favorite Z Crystal keeper– hands down, Mina!  She isn’t really a trial captain or a kahuna or anything, but she was super cool.  The way she hands over the Fairium Z isn’t the most ceremonious, but she’s quite the battler as we find out later!  Plus, did you come across her house?  Her art supplies and her parents!  She’s just a cool wandering artist, I love her.

Favorite Pokémon: Stuffel, Sandygast/Palossand, Shiinotic, and Mimikyu are my favorite new additions!

Favorite Legendary: Cosmog is pretty cute.  The Zygarde collecting makes some pretty adorable pup form too.

Proudest Moment: I think getting through that Ultra Beast quest and not running out of beast balls was great.  I’m also super pleased I found a Mimikyu as quickly as I did!

Most Embarrassing Moment: I accidentally ran from my first Tapu Koko battle.  Not realizing I could come back and fight him later, I restarted and had to battle the Elite Four champion all over again.

Master Ball Used On: Necrozma.  May I recommend Max Repel for this.

Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire

The Countdown to Pokémon Sun & Moon is on.  From now until November 18th, I’m taking a nostalgic walk through the Pokémon main series releases until the beautiful day I get my hands on the next Pokémon adventure!

And now the time has come– we’re talking about my current favorite: ORAS!  I’ve already gushed about my love for Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, so the news of Hoenn remakes made me happier than I can describe.

Bringing back Pokémon Contests also made me super happy; sure, we’re not berry blending which isn’t as great if you ask me, but all and all I loved this little side quest and was happy to see it back as part of the storyline.  Cosplay Pikachu, I always thought I could take or leave, but I love the black tipped tail and I officially want all of my Pikachu to be Cosplay Pikachu.

Soaring was an absolutely AMAZING addition to the game, which brings me to the best thing: the fact that you can encounter most legendaries makes the post-game the most fun.  This is what made me finish Black/White/Black2/White2 in the end: amassing all my legendaries together!

This tag is going to be quick, since the time for Sun and Moon is very near…

Which Version: Alpha Sapphires, then Omega Ruby.

Played On: Hyrule Gold New 3DS!

Starter Pokémon: Torchic.

Favorite Town: Slateport & Pacifidlog, but Sootopilis, Dewford, and Lilycove are great too.

Favorite Gym Leader: Tate and Liza are actually awesome, I love that Solrock/Lunatone combo.

Favorite Pokémon: I’ve said ’em all before.  This is the ultimate game, you guys.  All of your favorites are here.

Favorite Legendary: Cresselia!  This is the first time I caught this beauty.

Proudest Moment: Finding all of those legendaries in the post-game.  Completing my legendary collection and now, completing my mythical collection!

Most Embarrassing Moment: The amount of hours I’ve played on Alpha Sapphire is probably shameful.

Master Ball Used On: Deoxys– another first catch for me!

So quick, tell me how much you love ORAS!  And tell me you’re so psyched for tomorrow…

X and Y

The Countdown to Pokémon Sun & Moon is on.  From now until November 18th, I’m taking a nostalgic walk through the Pokémon main series releases until the beautiful day I get my hands on the next Pokémon adventure!

After generation 5, you can see why I’d be nervous for a new generation.  I had looked forward to 5, and was just meh.  I still looked forward to 6, and my faith in Pokémon was completely restored.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a little cheesy that Kalos is supposed to be Paris, or whatever.  Kalos reminded me of Unova in uncomfortable ways too.  Gameplay, though, was improved– battles were smoother, saving was smoother, the roller skates were maybe not my favorite feature but hey, whatever.

The storyline was much more engaging, even if Team Flare was ridiculous.  Your friends/rival were pretty neat to have around sometimes, even if they wanted to give you a stupid nickname.  The region worked better for me.  The new Pokémon worked better for me.  I was back, baby!

Now the tag!

Which Version: White 2.  X first, then Y.

Played On: My aqua 3DS!

Starter Pokémon: Fennekin!

Favorite Town: I like little Shalhour City, Ambrette Town, and Geosenge Town.

Favorite Gym Leader: Valerie.

Favorite Pokémon: Sylveon!  Flabébé & evolutions, Amaura, and Klefki!

Favorite Legendary: Xerneas!

Proudest Moment: Beating the elite 4, catching Mewtwo.

Most Embarrassing Moment: This wasn’t the simplest Elite 4 for me.

Master Ball Used On: Mewtwo and Zygarde.

Now I want to hear from you!  Tell me all your thoughts on generation 6!
