Bye, July!

Goodness, the summer is flying by!  July to me has been full of vacation– family fourth of July weekend [here and here], and Evo in Las Vegas [here, here, and here]!

Home life has been readjusting testing new make-up products [more soon!], enjoying our home city [here], and lots and lots of poké-walks to catch ’em all in Pokémon Go [here, everywhere, and more to come]!

We’ve got lots planned for August too, so stay tuned!  What’s up next for you this summer?!

June ‘Grams

Why yes, I am itching for my mini Fourth of July vacation.  I’m off tomorrow, so let’s say goodbye to June.

Highlights include: my first 5K attempt, celebrating Matt’s birthday, the first beach trip of the season, Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios, adventuring around JP & the Arnold Arboretum, and a lot of cooking together [here, here, and here].

I’ve got a couple of trips planned for July, but stay tuned.

Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!

Miss ya, March

If the infrequency with which I’ve posted this month isn’t a clue, I’ll tell you now: March was awesome!  Usually, this is a tough, long, cold month.  Instead, it was awesome.

[1] We made cinnamon bun waffles. [2] But mostly Matt just cooked for me. [3] I dyed my hair PURPLE. [4] My best friend became a certified Body Pump instructor. [5] We went to Myers & Chang on a special date night. [6] We went to CHICAGO. [7] Where we ate the best meal ever at Girl & the Goat. [8] And the best breakfasts ever at The Bongo Room. [9] And saw some beautiful places, like Garfield Park Conservatory!

Many more Chicago pictures to come, and hopefully just as much awesome in April!  Follow me on instagram to see what I’m up to this month!

Okay, we’re three days into February.  I haven’t exactly been disciplined or scheduled with the blog or YouTube this year.  Winter is tough and motivation is hard to find.  I have, however, had such a great start to 2016 on a personal note.  Though I’m not really up on my instagram game either, (I’ll get there!) I’ll share with you some of these January memories:

[1] starting the year by cutting 3 inches off my hair! [2] gym twinning with my bestie [3] new glasses! [4] sunrise from Kendall [5] body pump 96 launch! [6] my 27th birthday! [7] so much gym progress [8] a smile on my face for a good reason [9] birthday gifts to myself!

How’s everyone feeling a full month into 2016?

Top Chef: Eyes, then Hands

You eat with your eyes first, right?  The Quickfire Challenge from this week’s Top Chef was all about #foodporn!  Yes, with the hashtag.  It’s a plating challenge.  The twist?  It’s junk food that they’re plating.  The other twist?  Instagram likes will decide the winner of immunity.

Here’s what the chefs create:

L to R, top to bottom: Phillip, Carl, Chad, Jeremy, Marjorie, Karen, Kwame, Amar, Isaac

While the Quickfire was all about eating with your eyes, the elimination challenge was all about eating with your hands!  Neal Fraser introduces the concept of beefsteak– a traditional event in which there are no utensils, and no napkins.  Three teams are three are to make a meat dish, a fish dish, and two sides each.

The red team is basically all of my favorites– it’s Kwame and my Boston people, Karen & Carl.  The blue team is Marjorie, Isaac, and Chad.  The green team is Jeremy, Amar, and Phillip.

Here’s what they make:

It was pretty hilarious to see everyone in black tie and eating with their hands.  The best part, however, was that Hugh Acheson (heart-eyes emoji) was there to judge!  He also flung a piece of lamb that Padma had nibbled and hit some guests for the charity event.  Miss you every episode, Hugh!

Karen is announced as the winner of the instagram Quickfire securing herself immunity.

Most of the plates suffered from being too dainty and missing the point of the challenge.  Ultimately, the green team won for being the closest to hitting the mark, and Phillip claims his first win for his on-the-bone lamb.

The blue team ends up being the least favorite.  Luckily for Marjorie, my favorite member of this trio, Tom announces her the best baker Top Chef has seen– seriously, my mouth is watering for that milk bread!  Chad is sent to pack his knives.  Sadly, his instagram was my favorite, but he had trouble switching gears.

Which ‘gram is your favorite?  Seriously, how pretty are they?!

Thanks, 2015!

Seriously, it’s been a great year.  I have so many things I’m super thankful for this year, but I can’t believe tomorrow is 2016.  Time flies!  Here are some of my favorite moments and memories from this year:

[1] Making the best of Boston’s insane snow by taking a coffee break with my co-worker turned bestie. [2] The opening of a local grocery store basically changed my life. [3] A visit from family all the way from Italy! [4] Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  I made it to the Ocean State near every weekend last summer! [5] Personal growth, and there has been a lot of it. [6] A Newport trip to close out the summer! [7] Pokémon Worlds right here in my own city! [8] Fall foliage photography before hiking Blue Hills. [9] Christmas with the family– all the cousins together with Nonna!

Obviously, this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Now, resolutions.  You might remember I made some last year and I’m proud to report I made good on each and every one of these.  I’m not making resolutions this time, though.  Sure, I have certain goals and intentions in mind, but I’ve no need for resolutions.

I’ve done things I never thought possible this year, whether it’s going to the gym regularly thanks to the influence of aforementioned bestie, or starting a YouTube channel.  Not to wax philosophical here, but my advice to you in the New Year is this: don’t wait for a new year, or a new week, or even a new day to start doing something you want to do.  Do it now.  Just do it!  I’m so looking forward to what 2016 brings.

Let’s give it hell, guys!
