Another Year Older… in Disney!

Okay guys, this vlog is from January.  I didn’t really mean to take a month off, but that’s what happened.  I have a couple more older vlogs to share soon including *the big announcement* which you already know if you follow me on instagram!

So stay tuned 🙂

Friday Favorites: Let it Go

I’ve blogged before about my love for multi-lingual music.  My iTunes rocks the likes of Japanese, French, and Italian usually, with a couple of others sprinkled in there… Korean, Spanish, maybe a little Russian thanks to Regina Spektor.  Well, the language count on my iPod soared with the discovery of this!  I’m a big fan of Frozen– the movie, but especially the music.  It all started when I stumbled across this video.

I was so impressed.  My Idina Menzel worship remains unmatched, but I still found myself absolutely in awe that there were so many talented singers who could pull of this song well.  I wanted more.  I wanted to hear these foreign language versions in their entirety.  Luckily, I’m not the only one who felt this craving: “Let it Go the Complete Set” exists.  This album available for download on iTunes contains all 41 foreign language versions of “Let it Go” and 9 foreign language versions of the ending credits version of the song.

I listened to it non-stop for a couple of weeks, and I’m still not tired of it.  I’m obsessed with the French version… the only other one I can actually understand in its entirety.  I also like the Japanese and the Italian… sensing any patterns?

I happen to think this is phenomenally cool and highly recommend checking this album out!  If anything, it can be your mantra for Friday… just a few working hours separate us from the weekend, so prepare to let it go!

Frozen

Yesterday marked the DVD release of Disney’s latest animated feature, Frozen.

Unpopular opinion #1: I don’t really love movies.

Unpopular opinion #2: I don’t really love Disney.

I’m Sally Sparrow* when it comes to movies.  I can count the amount of movies I’ve seen in theaters since I graduated from college on one hand.  It’s basically a Fluke that I ended up seeing Frozen in theaters, but boy was I glad I did.  I absolutely loved it!  I am a big fan of visually stunning films, but the real reason for my love is the music!

The voice cast for this movie is insane.  We have the obscenely talented Idina Menzel providing vocals for Elsa, the ice queen.  The leading lady, Anna, is voiced surprisingly by Kristen Bell.  While I knew Idina was a powerhouse vocally, I had no idea that Kristen Bell had such pipes!  She impressed me first, because we hear Anna sing before we here Elsa, but for me, “Let It Go” stole the show.  (Enjoy that above!)

When I did a little more research, I learned Christophe Beck scored this film.  That’s my cosmic connection to this film, as any good Buffy fan knows the value of Christophe Beck!  We have him to thank for the Close Your Eyes, the Buffy/Angel Love Theme.

Frozen is available on DVD and for digital rental via iTunes.  It was actually downloadable via iTunes since late February, but I didn’t realize that until I sat down to write this.  I definitely think this is worth a watch– I’m not a Disney fan, or even a movie fan, so take this endorsement for what it’s worth!
