HeartGold & SoulSilver

The Countdown to Pokémon Sun & Moon is on.  From now until November 18th, I’m taking a nostalgic walk through the Pokémon main series releases until the beautiful day I get my hands on the next Pokémon adventure!

Okay guys, HeartGold & SoulSilver were infinitely better than FireRed and LeafGreen.  It’s hard for me to admit that because Kanto > Johto any day, but these games were beautiful!  They totally stole my top spot away from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald away at the time.

I was back in my prime when these games came out.  I had graduated from college and was a working professional with my own money for basically the first time in my life.  I pre-ordered both of these games without hesitation.  I have Ho-Oh and Lugia figurines on my bookshelf commemorating the occasion.  I have two pokéwalkers sitting somewhere in my closet.

I loved having my partner Pokémon trailing behind me, even if Feraligatr did look somewhat ridiculous doing so.  I LOVED the event Celebi, Pikachu-colored Pichu & Spiky-Eared Pichu… I’m actually STILL mad that Spiky-Eared Pichu can’t be transferred forward into any games or Pokémon bank.  Siiigh.  Most of all, I loved the update look of these games– the art was gorgeous and Ho-Oh especially, truly majestic.

Now, the tag!

Which Version: HeartGold all the way.  SoulSilver much later.

Played On: Pink DS Lite again.

Starter Pokémon: Totodile again.

Favorite Town: Ecruteak City, better than ever.

Favorite Gym Leader: Still Jasmine, but it was nice to see Falkner again.  I always liked his name.

Favorite Pokémon: Those special Pichu, be still my heart.

Favorite Legendary: Ho-oh!

Proudest Moment: The storyline for Ho-oh with the Kimono girls was magical!  This game is so pretty.  The event with the two Pichu and the Celebi rocked my little world.

Most Embarrassing Moment: The fact that this was the first time I participated in events.  I have two Jirachi from an event around this time too.  I think I left one in my pokéwalker for like, 5 years.

Master Ball Used On: Honestly, no clue.  There are lots of legendaries in these games!  I’m assuming Ho-Oh initially, then probably Rayquaza in SoulSilver.

Now I want to hear from you!  Join me in my countdown and tell me about your days playing these beautiful remakes!
