Gold, Silver, Crystal

The Countdown to Pokémon Sun & Moon is on.  From now until November 18th, I’m taking a nostalgic walk through the Pokémon main series releases until the beautiful day I get my hands on the next Pokémon adventure!

Though I always preferred the original 150 to the newbies that joined in Gen 2, and I’ll always love walking around Kanto more than Johto, there was something about Gold & Silver that was magical.  I think it’s simply because it took a game we all loved and made it more– more legends, more items, more locations.  The fact that it was like 2 games in one was too cool.  There are tons of little things I liked about these games and when Crystal came out and I got to finally play as a girl and chase a legend, it was my favorite yet.

For some reason, I really loved collecting apricorns for Kurt to make into balls.  I wish this would come back!

Now for my tag!

Which Version: Gold first, Silver later and less emphatically

Played On: Aqua Gameboy Color.

Starter Pokémon: Totodile

Favorite Town: Ecruteak City

Favorite Gym Leader: Jasmine

Favorite Pokémon: Mareep, Flaafy, & Ampharos!  Chinchou & Lanturn, the new Eeveelutions, Murkrow, Misdreavus, and Delibird.

Favorite Legendary: Ho-Oh

Proudest Moment: So many things!  Stepping back into Kanto felt like purse bliss!  I love, love, loved the Suicine storyline in Crystal.  What I loved about these games was that you really delved into the legends of the land.  Also, evolving Umbreon and Espeon successfully!  And finally, catching the Red Gyarados!

Most Embarrassing Moment: I probably fainted in Bellsprout Tower.  I definitely fainted fighting the Kimono girls the first time around.

Master Ball Used On: Probably Ho-Oh in Gold, probably Suicune in Crystal.

Now I want to hear from you!  Do my little tag and relive your Gold/Silver/Crystal days!

  1. I love this so much. Gold/Silver were my favorite games int he series. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to play Crystal. I remember playing the heck out of Silver on my Teal GBC back then though. Like you, Totodile was my starter and I remember nicknaming him “Tidalwave” 😄

As as cool as Ho-Oh is, I was almost on #TeamLugia 😛
