Ultimate Straight from L’Oreal Paris

My first Influenster Vox Box came a week or so ago full of products promising the straightest of hair.  Even as someone who considers her hair very straight, I still need to use a heat tool to achieve truly straight hair– a purposeful look, rather than my hair just looks like this.  The Ultimate Straight collection from L’Oreal Paris was the answer!

I received the following:

  • Full-size Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight straightening shampoo
  • Full-size Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight straightening conditioner
  • Full-size Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight straight boosting pre-conditioner
  • Full-size Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight straight perfecting balm
  • Sample-size shampoo, conditioner, and pre-conditioner

If you happen to catch my unboxing video,  you may have noticed I was a bit confused about how I’m supposed to use this four part system.  I’ve never used a pre-conditioner before, though it very obviously falls between shampoo and conditioner… I just wasn’t sure of the practicality of the whole thing.  Luckily, there were instructions.

Basically, shampoo as normal.  Apply the pre-conditioner and let sit for a couple of minutes, then apply conditioner without rinsing that.  The bottle suggests you use the pre-conditioner twice a week, so it’s really not a burden of an extra step.  After a towel dry, you can apply the balm, working from root to tip.  Finish with a straightener for best results.

First off, my hair smells and feels amazing after using this system!  I mean, salon-quality excellence here.  I was worried about the volume– my hair typically has none and I depend on it’s unpredictable waves to create that.  Thankfully, the straightening and smoothening didn’t result in zero volume!  Like I said, it was like I’d visited a salon.  The first day I tried it out, humidity was out (and, for some reason, in my office!) in full-force.  Never has my hair held up this well to humidity before, even when straightened.  I didn’t get any of the usual waves or frizz, and my ends kept their flipping up to a minimum.

The shampoo is obviously my most used product.  It doesn’t work up the lather I expected, so I do have to use a touch more.  The pre-conditioner is really nice and doesn’t leave my hair greasy at all.  I’ve used the conditioner only slightly more than the pre-conditioner, as I don’t condition my hair every time I wash it.  The balm might actually be my favorite piece of the system.  I’ve been dying to try out something like this to see if it would make a difference in my hair– it does!

Does this collection make a difference?  Yes!  Would I purchase it for myself?  Yes!  If your looking to keep your hair straight this summer, I highly recommend Ultimate Straight from L’Oreal Paris!
