February Beauty Favorites

I’ve been absolutely addicted to trying out new makeup products.  I started doing my face every morning to keep me motivated through the snow and layers of clothing– warmth is more important than fashion right now, sadly.  With that, I’ve got a bunch of beauty-related February Favorites for you!

Read about each of my favorites below!

Tangle Teezer compact styler | With dry air, whipping winds, and zippers up to my chin, this winter has taken a toll on my long hair.  It’s been noticeably more tangled, and I’m a bit of a wild sleeper, so that doesn’t help either.  Enter the Tangle Teezer: a flat brush with short subtle bristles that makes my hair manageable.  I’m obsessed with this thing!  It even comes with a cover so you can throw it in your bag and not get who knows what caught in the bristles.  I’m contemplating getting a second one for my purse for post-commute windblown hair.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser | I got a sample of First Aid Beauty’s face cleanser last year at a holiday event put on by Cambridgeside Galleria.  I finally got around to trying it this month, and after one wash, I was sold!  There are no beads or tingling sensations with this cleanser, just a slight, gentle foam.  I used it one night before I went to bed– it left my skin feeling so soft!  The next morning, I woke up to still soft, clean feeling skin.  I went out and bought a full-size the very next week.

EOS lip balm | I’ve written about EOS lip balms before.  They’re kind of fun to put on in their little spherical containers, and they’re super hydrating.  They’ve been key all winter long!  I’m currently favoring the Coconut Milk flavor (yes, EOS refers to them as flavors) over the wintery mints I’d been wearing prior.  This flavor is sold out online, but I managed to snag one at a local CVS.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue | My friend tried this product and raved about it.  The following weekend, I tested it out in store and purchased.  I do not have anything close to good skin.  I have horrible acne scars canyons in my face and am still prone to blemishes and redness.  While this product is not going to fill in those scars, it does even out my complexion and take away any redness nicely.  I’m wearing shade 4, Suede.

Clinique Lash Building Primer | I was not blessed with long eyelashes.  They do have a natural curl and are dark enough, but length is lacking.  I used to use some drug store duo with a primer on one end and mascara on the other, but I can’t find this product anymore.  Clinique is my favorite mascara for how light it feels on my lashes.  Luckily, they make a primer that is just as light.  This noticeably lengthens my lashes, which I desperately need, and love!

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet | Finding this shade was an ordeal.  I had a sales associate swatch every lipstick in the store trying to find me the perfect dark berry.  A last-ditch effort to find me my color was this lip stain and alas, it was perfect.  Of course, they didn’t have it in store, which was another ordeal entirely.  Now that this is safely in hand and on lips, I love this formulation!  I will definitely be picking up some more of these lip stains.

Julep nail polish in Keiko | I wrote about Keiko briefly in my Julep post last month, but having a chance to properly try it out and wear it, I’m in love!  I liked the sound of olive undertones in a black polish, but the first coat… was not pretty.  A second coat had me thinking, okay it’s just black.  As it dried, however, I saw the subtly of the olive undertone.  It makes it such an earthy black, striking the balance between black and brown I’m always trying to find.  I applied a third coat to achieve a charcoal, earth-tone black look.

Original Hunter tall rain boots | Okay, this isn’t a beauty product, but I literally couldn’t have gotten through February without my Hunters!  Boston is absolutely inundated with snow and slush.  I wore these bad boys every single day.  Insert welly socks and they transform into snow boots!  If you, like me, live in a city and depend on public transit and your own two feet to get from place to place, invest in some Hunter boots.
